Malignant Hyperthermia Syndrome
General: Pharmacogenetic disease with uninhibited flow of calcium i 828e42i on into muscle substance; leads to combined metabolic and respiratory acidosis and liberation of heat; cellular death may result; autosomal dominant; more common in children and young adults; unusual disorder of skeletal and cardiac muscle triggered by anesthetic agents.
Ocular: Blepharoptosis; squint; pupils fixed and dilated.
Clinical: Hernias; kyphosis; clubfoot; excessive muscular bulk; muscle cramps; unstable blood pressure; rapid and deep respiration; mottled cyanosis; arrhythmias; muscle rigidity; oliguria; anuria; deep tendon reflexes absent.
