Fibrinoid Syndrome
General: From 2 to 14 days postvitrectomy, white-gray criss-cross layers of fibrin appear on the surface of the retina and immediately behind the e of the iris; occurs only in patients with diabetes mellitus and usually in those requiring insulin; seen more frequently in people who have been diabetic for 15 years or more.
Ocular: Fibrin material interlaced on the surface of the retina and behind the iris; retinal detachment; neovascular glaucoma; rubeosis irides.
Clinical: Diabetes mellitus.
